Google has taken great amount of pictures for its 'Street View' and 'Google Earth Projects'. In total, the company has more than ten million miles of Street View and 36 million square miles of the Earth. Google claims that 98 percent of the world's total human civilization was photographed. The images were taken under 'Google Earth Projects', the company said.

Google think this is the basis of the whole map-making process. A few months ago, Apple announced that it would bring about similar features for Apple Maps.
