Samsung 5G in Canada
Electronic product maker Samsung has received a contract to supply 5G and 4G networking components to Canadian telecommunications company Videotron.This is the first time a South Korean company has contracted to supply telecommunication equipment in the country."The solution will be provided to 4G LTE in Quebec and Ottawa beginning in 2020" the company said in a statement.
"Samsung is taking the initiative to expand the range of 5G services to meet the pace of launching a 5G network commercially in Canada. The 5G network is expected to be launched by the end of 2020.
According to market analysis firm IHS Markit, Samsung owned 11 percent of global telecommunications equipment market in the third quarter of this year. The company occupied five percent of the sector in the last quarter.
This year, Samsung expects sales of US $52.9 million in telecommunications equipment, which is about 50 percent higher than the previous year.
