Ways to reduce jet lag

For those traveling in the sky, the problem of jet lag is nothing new. Researchers have developed a method of eliminating jet lag using smart wearable technology or personal wearable technology. Researchers in the United States have claimed that those who regularly travel to different time zones will not be disturbed by the use of their machine.

A research team comprised of researchers from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States says jet lag is experienced by internal changes in the body clock known as the circadian rhythm. This body clock helps control the physiology of our sleep, metabolism, hormone secretion and brain function.

The research article was published in the journal PLOS-One last Wednesday. Researchers say they have developed an algorithm that can analyze biometric data contained in smart devices. It can then advise on lighting controls for the sleep you need to adjust the circadian rhythm.

Agung Julius, a researcher at the Polytechnic Institute at Rensselaer and a co-author of the research article, said the algorithms and mathematical calculations of the circadian rhythm of humans have been finely tuned to determine the circadian rhythm that can be used to stay healthy. The tool created by them will be able to decide what kind of sleep will be needed.

Researchers say that when the circadian rhythm does not match the time zone properly, human energy, tendency to be alert and other biological processes are interrupted. It affects the mental state. Blood or spit tests are now performed to determine the difference in circadian rhythm. However, this method is time-consuming. But new research can collect data such as heart rate, body temperature through wearable technology. By analyzing these data the difference in circadian rhythm can be deduced.
