Dhaka Pollution: Polluted air coming across the border

Not only in the country, but also from outside, the polluted air is coming to Bangladesh. The polluted air is blowing in big cities, including Dhaka. This is making the air quality of Dhaka worse. For years, Dhaka has been the first to be named in the list of polluted air cities in the world.

This is the data from a study led by Monirjan Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi researcher at the Institute of Environment at the University of North Carolina in the United States. The research article was published on December 28 in an international science journal called the Magazine for Environmental Managers. The report was prepared by analyzing the images and maps from the geo-satellite and the data collected from the field.

The science journal contains research reports on winter air pollution in four cities around the world, including Dhaka. It says that the drought was burnt after harvesting in the Indo-Gangey ad-field area of India. The smoke that has caused it not only pollutes delhi city, it also travels thousands of miles to Bangladesh. People burn wood, straw and straw in their homes to protect them from the cold winters in rural areas of India, Nepal, Mongolia and Pakistan. People in the village use organic fuel for other activities including cooking. The flow of polluted air caused by it entered Bangladesh in November, making the air of Bangladesh more polluted.
The report on winter air pollution was recently sent by researchers to the Environment Department of the Bangladesh government. A meeting on the issue will be held at the Environment Department on Thursday. There is also talk of the country's control of the smoke and dust of the vehicles and construction work as well as the inter-border air pollution.

"We have received the report on the inter-state air pollution," AKM Rafiq Ahmed, director general of the Environment Department, told First Alo. We are seriously evaluating the results of that study. Because many illegal bricks have been blocked to free the air pollution in the capital. But we are holding this meeting to understand why the air quality is not improving. '

Dust is flowing from Mongolia and Afghanistan
Smoke from coal power stations in China and India is also being linked to it
Air pollution in the city is also increasing

Another study has been conducted on the impact of air on the quality of air in Dhaka during the two years. The research was jointly conducted by researchers at the Nuclear Power Center of Bangladesh, the University of The United States, and the University of Rochester. It says that the inter-border wind is one of the reasons for the air pollution in Bangladesh. Dust is mixed with air from the dry desert sands of Iran, Mongolia, Afghanistan. The wind with that dust enters India through the western light. The polluted air has entered Bangladesh since November.

The report said that unplanned urbanisation in Kolkata, Mumbai, Pakistan and Dhaka in India has led to heavy traffic and smoke. The construction of infrastructure has also resulted in a lot of dust in the air. As a result, the cities are polluting the air in the region.

Professor Ashraf Dewan of Curtin University of Australia, a climate and environment researcher, told First Alo,"60 to 70 per cent of the electricity produced by India and China comes from coal power stations. Smoke from there plays a big role in the air pollution in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is also on the way. With this, the construction of new infrastructure has increased, making the air more polluted. So we have to decide how to improve and control pollution. '

However, South Asian countries have already taken several initiatives to control air pollution, said Professor of Chemistry and Air Pollution Researcher Professor, Dhaka University. He told First Alothat the Bangladesh government has banned two-stroke engine-driven vehicles. He also made laws to prevent air pollution. A lot of bricks have been broken recently. But if the inter-state air pollution is not stopped, no country in the region will be free of air pollution. For this reason, a concerted effort must be taken to prevent air pollution between the Countries of South and Central Asia.
