Iran celebrates "slap in the face of US"

Iran's rocket attack is said to be a sign of its own people. Tehran appreciates the attack accordingly. There is no confirmation for the allegedly killed 80 US soldiers. A Green politician hopes at ntv that there will be no US overreaction now.

Iran's top leader Ajatollah Ali Khamenei has described the attack on US military bases in Iraq as a "slap in the face" for the United States. Khamenei paid tribute to General Kassem Soleimani, who had been killed by the United States, in front of supporters in Tehran before commenting on the air strikes of the previous evening.

"The Americans have only waged war and destruction in this region," said Ayatollah, who is also the chief commander of the Iranian armed forces. The US troops would have to leave the region. "The United States is the enemy of Iran." The broad sympathy in Iran and reaction to the death of the general shows that the revolution is still alive. Iran has no intentions to go to war, but has had to react to the killing of Soleimani, according to Khamenei.

"Put war trumpets away"
The US military said at least two Iraqi military bases had been hit, on which US troops and soldiers from the international military coalition were stationed. While Iranian state television spoke of 80 "American terrorists" killed, US circles have heard that, according to initial information, there have been no US victims. Germany, Denmark, Norway and Poland said that none of their soldiers had been harmed. US President Donald Trump, who warned Iran of retaliation and threatened "hard and fast" counterattacks, tweeted that he would make a statement later in the day, adding, "Everything is good."

The Greens' foreign policy expert Omid Nouripour was not surprised by the rapid act of revenge by Iran. "It was foreseeable that, especially after the Soleimani was buried surprisingly late, this time was also used to plan and think," he said. "To be honest, the place surprised me and also that, thank God, nobody got hurt." That is good news.
