Iran hires international aviation experts

In search of the cause of the crash of the Ukrainian passenger jet near Tehran, the Iranian government has requested further help from abroad.

The Iranian government has now engaged a number of foreign investigators in the search for the cause of the plane crash that killed more than 170 people in Tehran . As the head of the Iranian aviation authority, Ali Abedsadeh, announced on Iranian television on Thursday evening, experts from the Ukraine, Boeing experts from the United States, Canada and France would also take part in the investigations at the accident site near the Iranian capital.
A spokesman for the American authority said that experts from the US traffic safety agency NTSB had also received a formal invitation to support the investigation. According to the NTSB, experts have already been appointed to help clarify whether the Ukrainian passenger plane crashed or was possibly shot down due to a technical defect .
A few hours after the accident on Wednesday, there was growing evidence that an anti-aircraft missile could have hit the plane and caused it to crash. There is evidence suggesting an Iranian missile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Thursday at a press conference. Findings from Canadian and other intelligence agencies support this thesis. The launch may have been an accident, said Trudeau. There were 170 people on board the machine, including 63 Canadians. None of them survived.

Ukrainian team of investigators has already arrived
According to Iranian reports, the Ukrainian team of investigators has already arrived in Tehran , the other experts will arrive in the next few days. A spokesman for the aircraft manufacturer Boeing did not confirm the information, but said the company would support the agency if there was an invitation. According to the Foreign Ministry in Tehran, however, the participation of the Boeing experts is certain.
The plane crashed on the way from Tehran to Kiev shortly after takeoff. The Iran had repeatedly rejected speculation about a launch and led to a technical failure as the cause. It is scientifically impossible for an Iranian missile to hit the machine, said Iranian Aviation Authority chief Ali Abedzadeh of the Iranian news agency Irna. The country's transport minister also said the rumors that a fatal mistake in the Iranian missile defense system had caused the crash were false.

Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau said Thursday that his government had information "from multiple sources, from our allies, and its own information". The evidence is very clear. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said a "body of information" indicating an Iranian missile has been launched. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison made a similar statement on Friday.
US President Donald Trump also considers Iran's responsibility to be possible. "Someone on the other hand could have made a mistake," Trump said. The plane was traveling in a "fairly harsh environment". Four US government officials suspected that the passenger jet was mistaken for a threat.

The New York Times claims it has verified a video showing an Iranian missile hitting a Ukrainian plane near Tehran Airport. A small explosion occurred when the missile hit the plane, the newspaper wrote. However, the crash of the plane can not be seen in the video published by the New York Times .
